Northline Reviews has no affiliate links or paid placements on this site.Every recommendation is written as editorial research, and no retailer or manufacturer pays for placement, coverage or a favourable verdict.

If that changes in the future, we will say so plainly and update this page before a sponsored or affiliate link goes live. Until then, any product names are included because they are useful reference points, not because we earn money from them.

How we research

Be clear about what this site is. Our articles are research-based buying guides, not records of long-term hands-on testing. We work from published specifications, product documentation, the geometry and physics a product has to obey, and the failure patterns that recur in owner reports. We do not claim to have bought and lived with every product we write about.

1. We start with the real constraint. Pipe clearance, desk depth, port bandwidth or cabin space comes before marketing claims.
2. We read the specification, not the marketing copy. If a listing says "4K" without a refresh rate, that is a finding.
3. We look for the failure mode. Every product has one. A guide that only lists positives is an advertisement.
4. We write down the trade-offs. We would rather you buy nothing than buy the wrong thing and blame us.
5. We tell you how to verify it yourself. Every guide ends with the measurements or checks you can run before spending money.

How we score

Scores are out of 10 and are calibrated across categories, not within them - a 9 in one category means the same level of satisfaction as a 9 in another.

• 9.0-10 - we would buy it again at full price, and have recommended it to friends.
• 8.0-8.9 - genuinely good, with one flaw we can live with.
• 7.0-7.9 - fine, but there is a better option unless the price is right.
• Below 7.0 - we do not recommend it, and we say why.

What we do not do

• We do not accept money, free units or "review samples" in exchange for a positive write-up.
• We do not let a merchant see a review before it publishes.
• We do not claim to have tested or owned products when we have not.
• We do not hide a bad result because a future commercial relationship might be valuable.
